Agricultural Exports Top US$3.2 Billion in May

Specifically, the export value of major agricultural products was projected at US$8.25 billion, up 9.6 per cent; aquatic products at US$3.12 billion, up 9.7 per cent; and key forest products at US$3.4 billion, up 8.7 per cent.

Among agricultural commodities, rice grew in both value and volume. The country shipped 452,000 tonnes worth US$347 million in May and 2.66 million tonnes valued at US$1.45 billion in the first five months of 2018, up 13.9 per cent in volume and up 40 per cent in value from a year earlier. Cashew nut shipments amounted at 33,000tonnes valued at US$306 million in May, totalling 139,000 tonnes and US$1.37 billion from January to May, up 19.1 per cent in volume and 22.9 per cent in value year on year.

Key markets of Vietnam’s agricultural products remain Indonesia, Russia, the Philippines, Japan, Singapore, the United States, the Netherlands and China.
